Artist Statement
As a positive person, I can see potential in almost everything. I create art to express my emotions, thoughts, and dreams. Painting is natural to me and can help tell the stories
of my life in symbols and images. In design, I use inspiration from all around me to
bring intention to everyday life. My life dictates my art by giving meaning to
everything I have experienced and encountered.
The little things have always been the most important to me. The smallest details of a piece are there for a reason. This applies in both my traditional painting and graphic design work.
I use my artwork to invoke emotions and perhaps confusion but most of all, the need to explore. I use composition and rhythm to create visual interest through whole designs.
My art and the stories they tell are dreamlike and exaggerated to show my experience
in a way that is expressive. Symbolism is something that I use to create unity within
my paintings. With design, I use research and inspiration to reinvent basic concepts
into something complex that can fulfill needs and enhance products.
My passion for creating began with film. The concept of telling stories visually is something I always dreamed of. I was inspired by classic films like Metropolis from 1927, as well as more light-hearted features such as Spaceballs. I want people to enjoy my creations the way I enjoy movies, by feeling inspired after viewing. The concepts I use in my art can be connected back to events in my life combined with the shows and movies I grew up with. I love referencing something that I enjoy for the discovery of the viewer. I enjoy digging into a topic to learn about it and the history of it. Stanley Kubrick is a person who put art before himself and
the viewer to create something that had never been created before. I dream of creating
art and designs that are impactful.
